Spring has finally sprung and I have a serious case of camping fever! Last weekend would have been the perfect weekend to go camping. But, we had to go to a wedding on Saturday. Bummer!! I saw Avery & Denise in Wal-Mart, last Friday and they were getting ready to pull out for a camping trip. I was so envious! Traditionally, our first trip of the season is Memorial Day weekend. But, with the weather being so nice and warm lately, I'm ready to go now!
Ed & I are heading out to look for some new camping places, when he finishes cutting the grass, at the church, today. We've camped at Bald Mountain Park & Resort at Hiawassee for close on to 20 years now. We always camp with Ed's sister, her family and two of his brother's and their families and his nephews & niece, of his sister who passed away in 2001. It's not unusual at all, for there to be 20 to 25 of us camping together! We've often in the past, rented 1 extra camp site, just to set up a community area, where we could all congregate
together, for eatting and hanging out around the campfire. I imagine , we're an odd looking bunch. I know, we're a loud bunch! That first night, it seems we're so excited to see each other! We laugh and talk and cut up till sometimes 2 or 3 am in the morning, before we go to bed. We just lose track of time! We always have so much fun picking at each other and usually one person, always gets singled out to be the one, who gets ragged, the whole trip. Some of the stuff this crew can come up with is hilarious! Our children are grown now. But, while they were growing up, they always balked, if we wanted to go somewhere, besides Bald Mountain Park. Most of the people, who camp at Bald Mtn Park, have camped there for years and the kid's had developed friendships. They always, looked forward to going there to camp and see their friends. So, we always gave in to our kid's and went to Bald Mtn. Now, they are grown and we can begin to camp at other places. Last year, we camped at Vogel State Park a couple of times and liked it. We've also camped at Tugaloo State Park, but it's too hot there in July & August!
If anybody knows of any good camping spots, north of here, let me know! Hopefully, our journey today will be fruitful and we'll find some good spots. If not, at least Ed & I had a chance to hang out with each other and enjoy the mountain scenery. I like it when I don't have to share him, with anybody else!!
It's about time for him to return from cutting grass, I better start getting ready to go!
Later!
